Request your prescription
You can request prescriptions quickly and easily online using one of the options below. We recommend using the NHS app, as it works seamlessly with our clinical system.
- Complete the online services form – You can request the medications you require by clicking on the ‘Medication Queries & Prescription Request’ tile
- signing in and requesting them through the NHS App
- By depositing a repeat order slip in the repeat prescription box located in the front lobby at the Surgery when we are open.
- email us at nccg.aps.prescriptions@nhs.net
It is also possible for patients to register with a local pharmacy for their collection and delivery service. Ask for more details from reception or from your local pharmacy.
We are unable to take repeat prescription requests over the telephone

Collecting Your Prescription
You can usually collect your prescription from the pharmacy 3 to 5 working days after you have ordered it.
You will need to choose a pharmacy to collect your prescription from. We call this nominating a pharmacy.
You can change your nominated pharmacy at any time:
- on the app or website where you order repeat prescriptions
- at your GP practice
- at any pharmacy that accepts repeat prescriptions
Important Information
All requests should include your name, date of birth, contact details and medication required.
Holidays / Early Prescriptions – If you are going on holiday and require additional medication or an early prescription:
NB Prescriptions are issued on a 28-day basis. Any requests received more than 7 days before they are due may not be processed.
Upon receipt of the request, a repeat prescription will then be issued. For any items not on repeat or needing a review, a request will be sent to your GP who will take the appropriate action. When signed, your prescription will then be made ready for you, or your pharmacy, to collect from us at reception, or it can be sent electronically straight to your nominated pharmacy.
We do not have the facility to automatically re-order your repeat prescription each month, it is your responsibility to ensure you do so. Please allow 2 working days for processing before asking to collect it. If you have attended a hospital consultation, or have had a hospital admission, we require written confirmation of any changes to your medication before we can update your repeat medication list. Again, please allow at least 2 working days for any changes to be processed before the prescription can be collected. Please note it is your responsibility to inform your pharmacy if your repeat medication list changes in any way.
All medication is subject to review by your doctor or clinical pharmacist and you will be asked periodically to make an appointment with them before you can be given another prescription.
Questions about your prescription
If you have questions about your medicine, your local pharmacists can answer these. They can also answer questions on medicines you can buy without a prescription.
The NHS website has information on how your medicine works, how and when to take it, possible side effects and answers to your common questions.
Temporary Patients
We are able to dispense medication to temporary patients.
In order to ensure that patients are able to access Health Centre appointments we may register a patient temporary whilst waiting for proof of identification and address – as such we are able to dispense to the patient.
Prescription Charges
Extensive exemption and remission arrangements protect those likely to have difficulty in paying charges (NHS prescription and dental charges, optical and hospital travel costs).
The NHS prescription charge is a flat-rate amount which successive Governments have thought it reasonable to charge for those who can afford to pay for their medicines. Prescription prepayment certificates (PPCs) offer real savings for people who need extensive medication.

What To Do With Old Medicines
Take it to the pharmacy you got it from or bring it in to the surgery. Do not put it in your household bin or flush it down the toilet.
Get a sharps bin: If you administer your own injections, we can prescribe a sharps bin. You can request Bucks Council to collect from you home by clicking on this link.
Return it to a pharmacy: You can take your medication to any community pharmacy in its original packaging for safe disposal. This service is free.
Recycle inhalers: You can return your inhalers to your local pharmacy for recycling.
About Pharmacists
As qualified healthcare professionals, pharmacists can offer advice on minor illnesses such as:
- coughs
- colds
- sore throats
- tummy trouble
- aches and pains
They can also advise on medicine that you can buy without a prescription.
Many pharmacies are open until late and at weekends. You do not need an appointment.
Most pharmacies have a private consultation room where you can discuss issues with pharmacy staff without being overheard.
