Routine appointments
Routine Appointments are split into 2 different categories: Semi Urgent (for which we aim to see you within 7 days) and non-urgent (for which we aim to see you within 14 days). The urgency of your GP appointment is dependent on the duty GP’s assessment of your symptoms.
To request a routine appointment:
- Put a request through our Accurx Triage system between 07:30 AM and 06:30 PM
- If you are unable to do this online, then you can phone us on 01604 630396, Monday to Friday from 08:00am to 06:30pm, and we will complete one on your behalf.
- use your NHS account (through the NHS website or NHS App) to book a screening test or vaccination
When you get in touch, we’ll ask what you need help with.
For routine issues, you can choose a specific clinician and will be offered a choice of available appointments, which are available with two weeks notice.
Urgent appointments
For urgent appointments, your request will be assessed on what you have told us. A duty doctor will assess the situation, and we will call you as soon as possible. If felt necessary, you will be offered a ‘face to face’ appointment with an appropriate clinician at the surgery at the earliest possible time.
If you need to request an urgent appointment (Monday to Friday):
- Put through a request on our Accurx Triage System between 07:30 AM and 01:00 PM.
- If you are unable to do this online, please ring us on 01604 630 396 and we will complete a triage form on your behalf.
- If there are no urgent appointments left for the day, you can call 111 or visit NHS 111 online who will be able to best advise on how to get the care you need.
Please provide as much information regarding the situation as possible so that the duty doctor can accurately assess the situation.
We will use the information you give us to choose the most suitable doctor, nurse or health professional to help you.

Home visits
Home visits are reserved for patients who are completely housebound, or patients who cannot attend the surgery by any other means. It is generally much better for patients to be seen in the surgery if at all possible, as a GP can see four patients in the amount of time it takes to conduct one home visit.
Completely housebound patients and those too ill to attend surgery may request a home visit by putting through a triage request on our Accurx Triage system.
If you are unable to do this, please phone 01604 630396 before 11.00am. The receptionists will ask for brief details of the problem and fill out a triage form on your behalf so that the duty doctor can decide the urgency of each case.
The doctor may contact you by telephone to find out if a home visit is medically necessary, or whether a more appropriate consultation can take place at the surgery.
Depending on the clinical needs, the home visit may be conducted by either a GP or our surgery paramedic.
Please Note: If you are living out of our catchment area, we will not be able to arrange for a home visit. In this case, please call 111 urgently
Think Pharmacy First

The NHS now makes it easier to get help for common medical conditions through the Pharmacy First initiative. Community pharmacists can treat patients without needing a visit to the doctor, allowing for quicker access to care and appropriate medicines (such as antibiotics) for minor illnesses.
You don’t need to wait to see your doctor and you don’t need an appointment.
